Past: 100 EGP fills up trolley’s supermarket

Prices so terrifying at Supermarket

“What is this with 120 pounds,” a yelling woman breathed when she was at the cashier to buy some deodorant sprays.

“Maam, Nivea one is 48 L.E. while the Dove is 120 Pounds,” the cashier girl responded.

“No, remove this 120 EGP spray. It isn’t worth it. In the past I would buy two sprays for 50 pounds only!” the woman unbelievingly staring out her eyes said it.

“We in return pay more than half the amount you pay, Madam,” a rough deep voice of a man burst into the neigh. He is the market manager who checks out the products on the shelves with their latest prices after they are unveiled from the porting truck. “Unfortunately, this price dilemma isn’t departing anyone in the entire loop.” “We all pay not only the customer,” he continued.

Though the screen price detector is attached to each corner of the market, it seems the woman’s conscious mind won’t conclude the high jump of the spray price to exceed 100 pounds after the third-pound floatation that occurred in the first couple of days of the new year. It can’t be denied that there is a long queue to these screens rather than cashiers now.

Most purchasers are carrying baskets while the trolley is for heavy items or those who can’t carry a basket and move for a time. Trolleys aren’t packed like sardines before. Needers are tending to pitch one to two packets only. Instead of obtaining a 30-egg cartoon pike, now it is calculated within five to six ones to buy. In addition, many markets started to sort down the quantity bought of some supply necessities such as rice, oil bottle, and sugar. In a command, no more than two sacks, and for the oil, no more than one!

It might be for a good purpose to curb down people’s over-purchasing as if they are about to open a market.!

The fifty-pound paper can’t wrap more than one item purchase like before. Biscuits have reached five instead of only two one-paper pounds. Bonbon and chewing gums aren’t half as before. They started to go over the one pound.

It seems we would say goodbye to the 50 Pt like its bloodline 25 Pt which has evaded since its masters’ first flotation in 2016.!

100 L.E fills up a trolley

Going through the memories of visiting the open vendor, “Supermarket”, if exceeding 100 pounds for buying basic cheese and egg for a home, then it is extravagant. A whole 24-packet of MORO chocolate was worth 30 pounds. Mothers would insert a sweet one easily beside day-to-day school sandwiches. A jumbo Chipsy was five pounds. Its ad to shout out for its price was really an effort.!

Paper 100 would buy at least two big sacks of all the drooling needs. A more 50 paper would contain any sweety extras.

Now the golden Nescafe is worth the amount of three big sacks in the past! Past hasn’t witnessed a queue of price detectors at the supermarket as much as today.

For a future guess hit, would a credit card/Visa be needed for over 500 market purchases? Would the market purchase rise to over 1,000 pounds like some “Asian countries” labiating the 100 as a coined banknote instead of ONE?

My ancient allowance to buy the entire Canteen!

As a Gen-Z grown-up, still having the memories of my precious snack prices I used to reward myself weekly when I was a student still at school.

Two pounds= A current five-pound crisps

Believe it or not, it was just two pounds. Either two coins numbered with one or two one-paper numbered banknotes. My parents would pile up for about five coined pounds a week which my brother and I would take two pounds each and the extra coin would live another week topping up with the following weekly dose.

It might look ridiculously viewed from the point that our parents are a bit mean though they weren’t. Think logically about it and you’ll find out that it was a time when the current five-pound Chips/crisped potato was only two pounds. Half a pound would grab you two cheese-sprinkled popcorn flamingly that one pound would bring you FOUR sacks of this snack.

Humming to reach for a big sliced pizza was only two pounds and a half in any ingredients enriched with even the meat or chicken chops. Drinking a half-liter soda would cost you two pounds. Then, half is returned if the bottle is renowned.

It was a time it was easy to save behind your parents to open up your own piggy bank account. Exchanging a piled coin for a higher numbered pound paper to reach an amount where you can buy something more EXPENSIVE. A bouquet of flowers for your mum with only FIVE pounds on Mother’s Day!

Hey Gen-Z, that was a time when Blazing Teens and Dinosaur King would blare our boring studying-system minds when we rush home at 3-4pm.

OH OH OH, it was a time. It was in the past! It shall be called our golden childhood!!

 NOW,

 EVERYthing HAs CHANged!

At school, a cheese sandwich might cost over 20 pounds. A drink is now an arrow pointing to 10 pounds. Any snack sac is pumping at the five pounds and some are aiming tip-toe to the 10 so soon. The remaining changes are “bonbons or chewing gums”. The time to save up is deludingly weaker.

Now a child’s allowance every week will be 50 pounds! Will it be enough!?

Laughing and mocking my thoughts, right? You might blindly murmur it is unbelievable to have some allowance weekly, right!?

It is so mean as it should be daily… Hey you halt-minded reader, is it OK to learn how to save and set some expense priorities.!?

Varieties are full of options, but saving is a must.

To a point, everyone can rely on homemade sandwiches but having too much food buying will violent your spending into a more widened arena you will be debited by then.

Habitual essential spending should now be the children's guide motoring them to spend sensibly even in terms of entertainment as prices continue to rise in an unsteady manner. Though adults may have difficulty saving "some amount of money" as what is now earned is fluttered on home's basic expenses due to unautocratic increases.

If by any unpleasant coincidence reading this, what amount of money would you consider handing it to your children??

Are we buying cars now!?

One-door car everywhere

A news bulletin has hit the car market for witnessing a huge decrease in sales after the inflation that took place amid the floatation of the Egyptian pound.

The instant deduction that people would curb down replacing their cars and buying new ones, but in the streets, there isn’t such discovery.

Dashing through districts and squares, what was spotted was that there were about five cars from eight parked ones wrapped in plastic covers from the inside which indicated that these cars are brand new. A special doored car is noticed everywhere but with a hidden unknown logo to my knowledge.

Then there is the decrease that the news is blabbering about!?

“I am thinking of changing my old Mercedes car that has been just five years old,” an investment holder once complained during a chit-chat talk among his friends. “All the existing ones aren’t strong enough to compile my usage.”

Scrolling down through social media reels, many V-loggers demonstrated the newly imported cars with the latest models. They all intersected the point that half a million priced cars aren’t valuable to the models’ motors.

“The 400K Mitsubishi 2022 motor’s model is weaker than a juice mixer, a V-logger indicated.” “There is no point to buy a new one when the motors are fragile. A good car is in its motors’ resistance.”

Stressing what has been pointed out above, some mechanic engineers in one of the Mercedes companies criticized the new Mercedes models that have been imported into Egypt in the last two years. The main reason was also the motors’ quality is very weak and won’t live for long for almost a decade regardless the usage. Not only this for the prestigious Mercedes, but also its price for a side unnoticed accessory which is triple one’s salary in a private sector.

For that many people tended to buy cars directly from abroad instead of relying on “cars’ collection parts specialty” that is fabricated locally producing hickey engines. Surprisingly the eyed hawks noticed this and facilitated the purchase to lubricate the flow of the foreign currency in the monetary system more than withdrawing it abroad for some sort of expenditure.

Is that why this one doored car everywhere?

Is it cheaper?

I even can’t get the logo right since I can’t recognize it anywhere!?

Before the inflation, many people registered for Toyota cars and were waiting to get them as they were all locked in the Marines. When every star was free, the happiness was overjoying as waiting has already ended, but it wasn’t for all this joy. The company demanded their customers pay more as the prices have soared and the new stock is valued with the new price. A huge disagreement arose from the buyers who demanded to have their cars handled though the company offered to return their money if they aren’t OK with the latest.

As the cars’ prices are marching up, so are their maintenance and accessories disregarding the car type.

FIAT 127 is in demand

“The Fiat 127 model car original tire is jumping to 1k though it is a 1980s model, a mechanic at a Warsha said.” “Before it was worth three hundred only and original.” “Now I am offering the unused which is about six hundred pounds to my shocked customers who still can’t comprehend the huge difference.”

Many drivers and mechanics explained how the old Egyptian-manufactured cars which are Fiat 124, 128, and special praise the 127 models are now considered “Economic Cars” because their maintenance is much cheaper than other abroad brands.

Expensive tires

It is widely stated that tire prices have risen 200 percent from the previous prices for all car types as tires are imported from many Asian countries. However, still, the other accessories of the old Fiat cars are so much cheaper that some can be still in the range of early hundreds rather than thousands in comparison with all the other brands.

At the current moment, the existing car’s motor and strength are very strong despite its age so it is better to keep it as there might be a future influencing force to trash away the benzine moving car to an electric one which must be very friendly to Mr. Environment we always ignore.
